About the Release

The album includes some of my most favorite works by Medtner. Fairy Tale Op.20 No. 1 in B flat minor has deeply nostalgic and emotional character, Improvisation Op.31, No. 1 is a beautiful gem of refined piano brilliance and harmonic richness, shining with imagination, conversation, playfulness, sweet optimism and uplifted courage. The largest work of the CD is the Second Improvisation, Op.47 is a journey into a magical dimension, where myths and fairy tales are integral parts of the of the reality and simply are reflect the truth in a metaphorical way for those who can see 👀. The structure of this musical composition is a set of variations. Song of the Water Nymph is the theme of the set, depicting a mysterious, alluring creature, which comes directly from the old folk legends. By continuous transformation of melody, rhythmic patterns, harmony, the theme takes an appearance different personalities, like gnome, Winged dancers, Noise of the crowd etc. Thus the creator plays musical games inside our imagination. Nymphs are so real that You can hear their voice, gnomes and trolls are walking in the magic forest 🌳 🍄 and the Winged dancers 🐥 are joyously dancing in green gardens.
